In 2002 the Board of Directors of Idaho Parents Unlimited, Inc. (IPUL) established a Legislative Committee to more effectively convey the thoughts and concerns of Idaho families to policy makers at a state and national level. The IPUL Board of Directors adopts a new legislative slate each session. The committee then supports the lead agencies or individuals bringing the new legislation into law.
The IPUL Legislative Committee members research and discuss issues associated with IDEA and Medicaid and then, as a committee, determine what actions to take. The IPUL Legislative Committee works with staff members who have participated in the development of Federal Regulations under IDEA to provide feedback to our US Department of Education. The IPUL Legislative Committee and staff members have assisted in the development of state rules and policies under IDEA 2004. The committee regularly monitors and reviews changes or modification to the Medicaid program and/or Family and Community Service system in the state legislature.
