What is a Parent Training and Information Center

A Parent Training and Information Center, or PTI, is a terrific information resource for parents of children with disabilities: physical, cognitive, emotional, and learning. Every state has at least one PTI. PTIs are funded through our nation’s special education law, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Idaho’s PTI is housed at Idaho Parents Unlimited, Inc., or IPUL. Idaho’s PTI has the purpose of providing parents with information and training about:

The PTI Helps:

Our PTI staff understands the needs of children and families in Idaho. They also understand school policies and practices. Through their experience with the education of children with disabilities and the needs of families and schools, they make valuable contributions on a local and statewide basis, supporting schools to improve services and outcomes for students with disabilities.

IPUL is also home to VSA arts which provides opportunities for young people with disabilities to be involved in creative arts experiences.

All of IPUL’s materials can be provided in alternative formats.

IPUL endeavors to translate all of its materials and training into Spanish, provides training in Spanish at its conferences, and has bi-lingual staff who can work with parents who are Spanish-speaking.
